What better way to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776 than by having local Montclair high school students read aloud the famous words that have inspired abolitionists, suffragists, civil rights leaders, labor organizers, and countless others to fight to extend liberty and equality more fully than at our nation’s founding? The program will also include a talk by Steve Golin, professor emeritus of Bloomfield College, on why its significance lies not only in what it achieved in 1776, but in how its words have continued to challenge every generation to live up to them. The program will also include free birthday cake for all! Kick start your July 4th plans by sharing in an uplifting and patriotic party!
Sponsored by the League of Women Voters of the Montclair Area
