Dakota Sacred Hoop Walk

Details:

Join us for the Dakota Sacred Hoop Walk, an immersive celebration titled "Where the Seed Remembers: A Celebration of Earth, Lineage and Memory." Co-curated by artist Joshua "Brotha Asé" Gillespie, this multicultural community art exhibit honors the deep bond between Mother Earth and humanity, featuring themes of birth, nurturing, identity, grief, and joy through visual art, sacred storytelling, spoken word, and communal reflection. Opening on March 29, the event will showcase the works of 10 Minnesota artists from diverse backgrounds—Black, Indigenous, Latiné, East African, and Afro-Caribbean—accompanied by food, music, and opportunities for artist-audience engagement. Additionally, the exhibition "Stillpoint, Changing Line," from March 19 to May 4, 2026, explores themes of movement and transition, emphasizing the balance between attachment and release. Together, these events invite participants to reflect on their connections to the earth, their heritage, and the transformative nature of existence.
