Details:
Houston Shakespeare Festival (HSF) returns to Miller Outdoor Theatre with The Tempest Produced by University of Houston!
Exiled by her brother to a remote island and left to die, Prospera—the once loved Duchess of Milan and now an all-powerful sorceress—conjures a great tempest to wash ashore a ship of her enemies. With the power of magic, Prospera manipulates the survivors of the wreckage to weave a story of revenge, retribution, and reconciliation. Rich with spectacle, humor and wonder, Shakespeare’s final play brings audiences to a “brave new world ” where reconciliation is possible and humanity is renewed.
Nationally acclaimed director and Executive Director of HSF joins HSF Veteran actors Laura Frye (Prospera), and Wesley Whitson (Ariel) to bring THE TEMPEST to HSF and the Miller Outdoor Theatre after a 20-year absence.
This performance will have open captioning on August 1 and will be Audio Described on August 5. Only the August 7th performance will be live-streamed.
This performance also includes strobe lighting effects. Patrons sensitive to flashing lights, including those with photosensitive epilepsy, should use discretion.
Admission is free. Covered seating tickets will be available online beginning at 10:00 AM the day before the show. Hill seating is always free and does not require a ticket. Additional covered seating tickets will be available at the Box Office one hour before the performance, while supplies last.
