The Livingston Public Library is hosting a rescheduled Senior Happening on Friday, July 24th at 1 PM, featuring a delightful performance titled “It's Today! The Showtunes of Jerry Herman” presented by Susie Speidel and Joseph Regan. This event celebrates the illustrious career of Broadway composer Jerry Herman, showcasing selections from his famous works like Hello, Dolly!, Mame, and La Cage Aux Folles, alongside lesser-known shows such as Dear World and The Grand Tour.
Susie Speidel, a notable figure in theater education and a former Director of Education for Papermill Playhouse, has received numerous accolades for her work, including induction into the NJACT Hall of Fame. Joe Regan, an established cabaret performer, entertains audiences at venues like Don’t Tell Mama in NYC and is recognized for his musical talent in the cabaret community.
Attendees will have the opportunity to socialize before the performance, from 12 PM to 12:45 PM, while enjoying desserts and coffee provided by the Friends of the Library. Registration is required and can be done in person, by phone, or online, starting July 6th for Livingston and Essex County residents. This event is made possible by funding from the Essex County Division of Cultural Affairs and support from the Friends of the Livingston Library. Note: The program will serve food and attendees are advised to bring their own snacks if concerned about food allergies.
