Details:
Join us this July for "Discover Henna: Tradition, Culture & Design" as we celebrate South Asian Heritage Month through the beautiful art of henna. This beginner-friendly workshop, led by Smriti Sangal from Culture Chauraha, explores the rich traditions of henna (mehendi) from India, Pakistan, and neighboring regions, where it has been used for centuries to adorn the body during festivals and joyous occasions.
Participants will enjoy a welcoming space to learn about the history and significance of henna, practice simple patterns and motifs, and create their own designs on their hands or on paper at their comfort level. All materials, including natural, chemical-free henna cones, will be provided.
This meaningful and creative session is open exclusively to Livingston Library cardholders aged 18 and up, with registration required due to limited space. Registration opens on July 13th, and those unable to secure a spot can join the waitlist. This event is made possible with the support of The Friends of the Livingston Public Library. Celebrate heritage one design at a time!
