Details:
Join us for the One Tomato Project, a gardening session inspired by the University of Maine’s Piscataquis County Cooperative Extension. This initiative promotes the idea of growing your own food, emphasizing that even just one tomato is affordable, easy to grow, and can thrive in various locations—whether it’s in a garden, flowerbed, container, hanging basket, or front lawn. No prior gardening experience is necessary; everyone is welcome to learn how to cultivate healthy vegetables and potentially save money on groceries.
Participants will have the opportunity to grow not only tomatoes but also other vegetables like spinach, radishes, lettuce, and peas in a small box garden. We will provide containers, soil, and seedlings, or you may take seeds home to start your own garden. Plus, attendees can enter a drawing for a potted vegetable or herb and receive free seed packets while supplies last.
The event takes place on Tuesday, June 9th, with two sessions available at 3 PM and 5 PM in the Community Meeting Room, and no registration is required. Whether you are an experienced gardener or simply looking to feed your family, this program is perfect for you!
