Details:
A monthly program for adults and seniors to come together, recharge their social batteries, and engage in parallel play. Parallel play is best described as doing an independent activity in a group setting or simply being alone together. It's a low-stress way to be around people without forced socialization.
This hour-long program is divided into two halves. The first half is 30 minutes of silence. Folks are welcome to work on whatever they'd like, but chatting must be kept to the minimum. The second half is 30 minutes of quiet conversation, for those who are interested in talking. Silence will not be enforced during this period.
Some ideas for things to do during this program:
play on a handheld gaming device with the sound off
craft! draw, practice calligraphy, hand-sew a project, felt, etc etc
play, write, code, etc on your personal laptop
bring a book or e-reader and come read!
We will provide a puzzle and coloring sheets for folks who don't have a project in mind.
