Create with Nature is a series of artmaking workshops collaborating with Nature. We will share some basics of working with natural materials to create works of art. Each session is unique and will focus on various methods and approaches to working with and in nature for creative expression. Participants do not need to attend all workshops. Separate registration is required for each workshop you want to attend. Please register below. February 28 Rocks, Dirt, Twigs, and FeathersLearn to make your own paint and drawing medium with rocks and dirt, and mark-making tools from twigs, feathers, and other found materials. Materials will be gathered in advance, but participants are welcome to bring their own. Participants will go home with their creations and any of the art-making materials they have created. Dress for mess! April 25Making in PlaceTake a slow walk through Anson B. Nixon Park to find inspiration as you see it!Participants will make ephemeral art pieces using found materials. Materials will be only found things the process will not include or require any picking, cutting, breaking, digging, or damaging naturewe will use only things found loose and gifted by nature. These works will be left in place and will naturally return to the wilds. You will take home your artwork via photos. Reference examples will be given in the introduction to the session. Check back soon for meeting place details! June 27Flower PowerParticipants will create colorful images in collaboration with Mother Natures flower power using pressed and pounded flowers. After a visit to the Kennett Librarys Meadowitos to collect from the blooming garden of native pollinator plants, participants will learn how to create beautiful prints using flowers and leaves. Reference materials will be shared in the introduction. August 29Sunny DaysLearn the magic of Anthotype photography/printing using this plant-based method to make photo-sensitive paper that creates dreamy images. All materials will be provided, and recipes for further fun will be available. October 24Saturated StainedParticipates will learn how to make and use inks and dyes made from berries, leaves, and nuts. We will use these inks dyes to create drawings and dye fabrics. Materials will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring their favorite paper or smaller pieces of fabric. December 19Putting it all TogetherThe close of the year and the holiday season is a great time to gather and create beautiful collages as gifts, decorations, and artworks. Materials will be providedincluding lots of natural materials to experiment with. This program supports Environmental Literacy and Arts Culture Literacy as defined by Kennett Library andinspired byPA Forward.
