About the Event
This fun and educational camp is designed for kids aged 11 to 14 who are eager to learn about horses and horsemanship. Over the course of three exciting days, campers will gain hands-on experience with basic horse care and riding techniques. Here's a breakdown of the activities:
Day 1: Introduction to Horses & Groundwork
Meet the Horses: Introduction to the horses, including breed characteristics, behavior, and safety around them.
Groundwork: Learn essential groundwork skills such as leading, lunging, and horse body language.
Grooming: Discover how to groom a horse, including brushing, cleaning hooves, and understanding horse care.
Day 2: Saddling & Basic Riding Skills
Saddling a Horse: Learn how to properly saddle a horse, including fitting the saddle and bridle.
Mounting & Basic Riding Techniques: Introduction to riding positions, balance, steering, and controlling the horse at a walk.
Riding Practice: Guided riding sessions to build confidence and skill.
Day 3: Trail Ride & Fun Activities
Trail Ride: Take part in a guided trail ride where campers can apply their skills in a real riding environment, experiencing nature on horseback.
Horse Care & Handling Review: Reinforce skills in saddling, grooming, and riding with time for questions and extra practice.
Camp Wrap-Up: Fun games, group photos, and a chance to share the experience with new friends!
