Details:
This program is for children in K-5th grades, plus their accompanying adult(s). Please only register children.
Description: Although snakes have a reputation as a scary reptile, this program seeks to teach students how friendly and helpful they really are! Students will learn about common snake species of Pennsylvania, including which are venomous and how to respect snakes in the wild. We will discuss snake adaptations like how they move, hunt, eat, shed, and taste the air through a special organ in their mouth. Finally, we will discuss the psychology of why humans are often afraid of snakes and how they are mischaracterized in popular culture. This program may include a live animal.
Alissa Pendorf, Environmental Educator and proud owner of Discovery by Nature, LLC. will be leading the Slithering Snakes program. Visit Discovery By Nature to learn more.
