Have an Exotic Pet You Can No Longer Care For? Join us for the Exotic Pet Surrender Event on Friday, June 27th from 9 AM to 12 PM at the Farnsworth Public Library 715 Main St, Oconto, WI 54153 This June, we're proud to host this event during Invasive Species Action Month in Wisconsin—a time dedicated to raising awareness about the dangers of releasing non-native species into the wild. Releasing exotic animals isn’t just risky—it’s illegal and can cause serious harm to local ecosystems. Our surrender events provide a safe, humane, and legal alternative. What We're Accepting Fish, invertebrates, reptiles, pet birds, small mammals, and plants—no questions asked. Please ensure all animals arrive in secure containers. What We’re Not Accepting Dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, pigs, and chickens. Please contact local shelters for help rehoming domestic animals. Out-of-state mammals, birds, and reptiles require a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (C.V.I.). Event Highlights • Surrender your pets in a judgment-free environment • Meet animal ambassadors and hear their rescue stories • Snap a photo at our rescue pet photobooth! All surrendered animals will be quarantined briefly and then placed for adoption through J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue. Event Hosts • J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue • Farnsworth Public Library • University of Wisconsin Sea Grant / Water Resources Institutes Proud Sponsor • Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Questions?
