Details:
Join us for June's First Round event at Outside Northside! A free First Round will be provided by Wild Culture Kombucha, and then we invite everyone to join us in a conversation led by Dr. Deb Nopoulos and Office of Innovation Assoc. Director Liz Hubing!
Peg Nopoulos, M.D., is Professor of Psychiatry, Pediatrics, and Neurology at the University of Iowa, where she holds the Paul W. Penningroth Chair and serves as DEO and Chair of the Department of Psychiatry. She completed all of her training at the University of Iowa, including undergraduate studies, medical school, psychiatry residency, and a research fellowship in Neuropsychiatry.
Dr. Nopoulos is a physician-scientist whose research uses brain imaging to evaluate brain structure and function, with a particular
focus on brain development and its relevance to adult-onset disease. Her work has included
studies of schizophrenia, children born with clefts of the lip and palate, and, for the past 20 years, individuals affected by Huntington’s disease, a rare and fatal neurodegenerative disorder.
Following a major philanthropic gift in 2024, she expanded her research program into psychedelic
medicine, using brain imaging to better understand how treatments such as psilocybin may benefit patients with mental health disorders, including alcohol use disorder.
