Explore the Estuary: Monthly Public Workshop Series
Join Harbor WildWatch for a monthly workshop on the wild side! These tours will be paired with a monthly lesson that can be adapted for all ages. We will gather at 1pm on the covered lookout deck near the restrooms at Billy Frank Jr Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge before embarking on a 60-90 minute tour. Parking is $3 (cash) per vehicle.
September 10: Invasive Species
Join us for an eye-opening lesson on the impact of invasive species, focusing on the Himalayan blackberry and the European green crab. This engaging session will explore how these non-native species have established or might establish themselves in our local ecosystems, outcompeting native flora and fauna. Through interactive discussions and hands-on activities, participants will learn to identify these invasive species, understand their ecological impacts, and discover methods for controlling their spread. This lesson highlights the importance of biodiversity and the ongoing efforts to protect our natural habitats from invasive threats.
