Details:
The Bible on which George Washington took his oath of office still exists as the possession of St. John’s Lodge No. 1 Ancient York Masons today. Since Washington's inauguration, it has been used in the inaugurations of Presidents Harding, Eisenhower, Carter, and George H. W. Bush.
This Bible now makes its way to Greenwich, Connecticut. In commemoration of America 250, Acacia Lodge No. 85 Ancient, Free, & Accepted Masons (A.F. & A.M), is proud to have procured the visitation of this historic Bible to the Town of Greenwich for all to view up close.
Patrons are invited to visit the Bible between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. During your visit, a brief summary of this important artifact will be provided by members of St. John's Lodge No. 1 A.Y.M.
This event is co-sponsored by Greenwich Library. For more information, please visit greenwichfreemason.org.
