Based on the research of Dr. Loren Fishman
This workshop is designed for individuals with diagnosed idiopathic scoliosis who are seeking a thoughtful, evidence-informed approach to working with the spine.
Drawing from the published research of Dr. Loren Fishman, we’ll explore how specific isometric and asymmetrical yoga postures may support changes in spinal curvature over time. In clinical studies, participants who practiced these targeted poses consistently demonstrated measurable improvements in Cobb angle.
Together, we’ll examine:
- The role of asymmetrical strengthening in supporting the spine
- Key postures used in the research
- How different curve patterns (thoracic, lumbar, and S-curve) respond to load and positioning
- How to practice with clarity, consistency, and appropriate effort
This is a focused, practical session centered on applying research-based methods in a safe and accessible way.
Who this workshop is for:
- Individuals with diagnosed idiopathic scoliosis
- Students interested in a more precise and informed approach to practice
- Teachers seeking a clearer understanding of how to work with scoliosis in a yoga context
You’ll leave with a small, clearly defined set of practices that you can continue on your own.
