Join us for two engaging events at the Deering Estate, celebrating art and nature!
First, on Saturday, June 27th, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., participate in the "Oscillation: Beekeeping Sculptural Workshop" led by environmental artist Camila Young. In this hands-on outdoor workshop, attendees will create a sustainable hanging sculpture using locally harvested bamboo and biodegradable twine, serving as a bee hotel for solitary pollinators. Explore the intersection of art and conservation while connecting with themes of tides and nature. Dress appropriately for the weather and bring essentials like a hat, sunblock, and water. Tickets are available for $20 through Eventbrite, with a 10% discount for Deering Estate Foundation members.
Additionally, experience the "Butterfly Walk" on the fourth Saturday of each month from June through September, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Explore the Deering Estate’s diverse habitats in search of rare butterfly species, including the Ruddy Daggerwing and Atala. This guided tour encourages participants to document their observations using the iNaturalist app. Admission is $18 for adults (ages 15+) and $10 for youth (ages 4–14), with free entry for Deering Estate Foundation Members. Registration is required at the Main Gate before the tour, with limited capacity on a first-come, first-served basis.
Don't miss these unique opportunities to engage with nature and art at the Deering Estate!
