Details:
Kids ages 8 to 13 are invited to this three-day camp led by Macon County 4-H staff at the University of Illinois Extension office in Decatur.
Here's what to expect for each day:
August 4 - Mindfulness and Mental Health
The beginning of the school year can be overwhelming, and 4-H wants to equip youth with tools to handle those stresses. Kids will take home something that can be carried in their bookbag for the school year.
August 5 - Art
Kids will explore different arts and crafts projects that can also be used as mindfulness practices throughout the school year. Kids will leave with two different paper arts and craft projects at the end of the session.
August 6 - STEM and Nature
For our final day, we will be doing fun mini-projects with building bricks that can be an engaging and stress-reducing activity throughout the school year. We will end our day making terrariums and learning why planting and gardening are some of the best mindfulness practices.
There is a $5 per day fee, and a maximum of $20 per family each day.
Register for all sessions of the mini-camp by July 31.
