Details:
This 2-day course focuses on the forging techniques needed to produce sharp-edged tools of high-carbon steel. We will cover blade design, control of steel grain structure, hardening and tempering methods, steel finishes, and handle construction. Emphasis is on learning the fundamental skills needed to forge a good knife. The knife and handle will be forged from one piece of repurposed steel. The blade is hardened and double-tempered while the handle left unhardened and resilient. It makes an ergonomic and useful tool.
Instructors will encourage, demonstrate, and coach you, while telling both the history of knifemaking and bad jokes - you'll come away with a sharp and useful knife of your own creation!
In the event of Weather below 30 degree Fahrenheit, class will be rescheduled.
