Join us for a captivating virtual series hosted by the Tewksbury Public Library in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. In this unique event, "Celebrating America's 250th: The Intoxicating History of the American Revolution," historian Brooke Barbier, author of "Cocked and Boozy: An Intoxicated History of the American Revolution," will explore the significant role of alcohol in eighteenth-century America. From its influence on politics and relationships to its impact on the economy, discover how drinking culture shaped colonial resistance and contributed to the Revolutionary War. Learn how famous founders and lesser-known Patriots transformed from British subjects into Americans over drinks. This free webinar is scheduled for Wednesday from 7 PM (ET) to 8 PM (ET), but please note that it will not be recorded—be sure to mark your calendar! Registration is required, and participants will receive a Zoom link via email. This program is supported by the Friends of the Tewksbury Public Library, in collaboration with various libraries across Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
