About the Artist
Michelle Stitzlein maintains a studio in a former grange hall in the community of Baltimore, Ohio. Her large-scale sculptures and installations are created with repurposed materials formerly destined for a landfill and speak to her concerns about the environment, respect for nature and her fondness of imperfections found in handmade textiles. She has been awarded a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant, NY; two Individual Excellence Grants from the Ohio Arts Council and has been an artist-in-residence at the Headlands Center for the Arts, CA; Shenandoah National Park, VA; Denali National Park, AK; and the Millay Colony of Arts, NY.
