Details:
Enhance® Fitness is a proven, community-based senior fitness and arthritis management program. It aims to help older adults become more active, energized and empowered for independent living. Enhance® Fitness has been nationally recognized by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services and the National Council on Aging. Participants must register for this 16-week session, but you can join any time. Additionally, tai chi movements are incorporated into this program’s routine of exercises as an evidence-based approach for improving balance and reducing the risk of falling. Tai chi is an ancient Eastern tradition and a low-impact form of exercise. It involves specific movements that participants are taught to perform in a slow, focused manner with deep breathing. Tai chi puts minimal stress on muscles and joints, but produces noticeable results in strength and balance. The class runs from 10:45-11:45 a.m. every Monday-Thursday at the YMCA. • The cost is free for YMCA members, and $15 monthly for non-members. • Register in person at the YMCA or online at columbusy.org/fitness/classes/.
