Details:
Pablo Picasso is one of the most written-about artists in history — but what about the years that made him? This acclaimed documentary sets out to answer that question.
Young Picasso traces the three cities that shaped the artist before the world knew his name: Málaga, where he was born; Barcelona, where he came of age; and Paris, where everything accelerated. With privileged access to the Picasso Museums in all three cities, the film brings the Blue Period and the Rose Period into focus — and builds toward the creation of Les Demoiselles d'Avignon, a painting that altered the course of art history.
This screening pairs beautifully with Modernisms: Art from the Manes Collection, currently on view in our galleries — featuring four Picassos.
