Civic Conversations

Join us for Civic Conversations at the Bloomsburg Public Library every Wednesday from 10am to 11am, where all community members are invited to engage in weekly discussions about current news and events. This initiative aims to foster respectful civic engagement, build relationships, and promote understanding among participants. Each session will include introductions, topic suggestions, voting on discussion points, and a well-facilitated conversation adhering to our established ground rules. We encourage attendees to approach conversations with openness, curiosity, and humility, focusing on sharing diverse perspectives rather than persuading others. Expectations to abandon include the belief that you can change others' views or that consensus on facts will be achieved. Ground rules include speaking one at a time, expressing personal views, avoiding stereotypes, asking curious questions, refraining from personal attacks, and keeping phones off.
