Creativity and Timing with Ben Morris is a three-hour West Coast Swing workshop built for dancers who love the modern, conversational side of the dance and want to make it feel even clearer, stronger, and more intentional. As West Coast Swing continues to explore more abstract movement, creative shapes, and free-flowing expression, this workshop takes a closer look at how those choices work inside the dance and how to keep them connected to the timing and structure that make WCS feel good for both partners.
Ben will break down what happens when dancers move away from standard patterns, how those creative departures affect rhythm, connection, and partnership, and how both leaders and followers can help bring those moments smoothly back into the framework of the dance. This is a thoughtful, practical deep dive for dancers who want more freedom without losing clarity, and more expression without losing control. If you want your dancing to feel more grounded, musical, and exciting at the same time, this is a workshop worth jumping on.
Prerequisite: This workshop is targeted towards social dancers who are already familiar with the basics, and the timing of West Coast Swing, as well as high-level competitors trying to better understand how to integrate these elements of the dance.
