Details:
Join us for AfroFest featuring Afro Dead, a vibrant musical collective formed in 2022 by Aaron Feder, dedicated to reimagining the Grateful Dead's music through dynamic Afro-Pop styles like soukous, Afrobeat, high-life, and reggae. With a background leading the Alma Afrobeat Ensemble and co-founding Slow Walk Music, Aaron is set to embark on a Summer 2024 tour across the US and Canada, followed by a Fall 2024 tour in Spain. In 2026, the band will highlight the talented singer London Kay, known for her performances with Heart and the Grateful Dead tribute act Terrapin Flyer. Aaron's extensive connections in the Grateful Dead scene, along with collaborations with Grammy-winning artists, have shaped a unique project that seamlessly blends classic Americana with infectious African rhythms and improvisation. Their rendition of "Dark Star" has gained recognition in notable compilations, demonstrating their innovative sound. Doors open at 7:30 PM with the show commencing at 8 PM. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 on the day of the show, and $15 for students (available at the door with ID). Ashkenaz is family-friendly, welcoming all ages, and children 12 and under can attend for free. Don’t miss this extraordinary musical experience!
