Join us for a lively performance from Taiko Kai, a Japanese taiko drumming ensemble. Taiko is a high energy, choreographed style of drumming. Taiko Kai will also talk about the tradition of taiko and their instruments. Taiko Kai is the University of Washington's first taiko ensemble. They strive to promote and preserve Japanese culture through the art of traditional Japanese drumming. They hope to evoke a sense of pride, heritage, social understanding, and cultural values while attaining an appreciation for Japanese culture. This performance will take place outdoors.
