On Sunday, September 14, 2025, from 10 AM to 5 PM, join us for a day of nature exploration at the Minnesota Valley Refuge! Participate in the "Nature Discovery Day: Insect Investigation," where all ages can engage in insect capturing and observation using a sweep net, with no prior experience required. This drop-in outdoor program, taking place at the pavilion at Old Cedar Avenue, offers complimentary snacks and is designed to be easy and self-paced.
Simultaneously, enjoy a "Story Stroll," where you can leisurely walk along the prairie while reading a children's storybook. The stroll begins outside the Bloomington Visitor Center, with additional books available inside.
Accessibility features include restrooms, water fountains, and dedicated handicap parking. Light snacks and rest areas are provided. Comfortable clothing and closed-toed shoes are advised for both activities. For questions, contact MinnesotaValley@fws.gov or call (952) 854-5900 (press 1 for Visitor Services). No registration is needed for either event, but you can sign up for reminders and updates. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is committed to providing access for all; please submit any accommodation requests at least ten business days before the event.
