The Maitland Public Library connects the community to a world of opportunity by providing reading materials, online resources, classes, and events, ensuring free and equal access to information for all citizens of Maitland. Established in 1896, the library has a rich history, evolving from a small collection in a teacher's living room to a significant institution with over 96,000 items, including downloadable resources. The library operates as a non-profit corporation, governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees, and partners with the City of Maitland for funding and maintenance. It offers a variety of services, including storytime for children, digital literacy programs, and community events, aiming to serve the educational, informational, cultural, and recreational needs of Maitland residents. A new, larger facility is currently under development to better accommodate the community's growing needs and modern library services.
