Week 1: Getting Comfortable with Watercolor
Focus: Foundations & Play
• Intro to materials: types of paper, brushes, paints, palettes, and water control.
• Exercises:
o Wet-on-wet vs. wet-on-dry
o Creating washes (flat, graded, variegated)
o Color mixing basics (primaries, secondaries, neutrals)
• Mini Project: Completed still life piece - the same piece that launched Tina Williams's watercolor career!
Week 2: Building Shapes & Depth
Focus: From Techniques to Simple Forms
• Skill focus:
o Layering & glazing (waiting between layers for transparency)
o Dry brush for texture
o Lifting & blending
• Practice:
o Simple florals & leaves, painting trees
o Geometric shapes (to learn light/shadow with watercolor)
• Mini Project: A floral/botanical piece in negative space
Week 3: Bringing It All Together
Focus: Composition & Confidence
• Skill focus:
o Planning a composition
o Backgrounds vs. foregrounds
o Using negative space
• Practice:
o Landscape (sky, trees, water, mountains)
o Adding details without overworking
• Final Project: Each student creates their own small finished piece (a landscape, floral composition, or object of choice).

o Age Policy: No kiddos under 12, please. All minors must be joined by a paying adult at all times.
o Refunds & Cancellations: Life happens, but I can’t offer refunds or credits — and that includes missed classes. I’m a small business, and every spot counts — thanks for understanding and helping me keep prices fair for everyone!
o Supplies: Everything you need is provided! Please don’t bring your own supplies — I promise it’s easier (and prettier) when we’re all painting from the same palette.
