Details:
This summer, we are stepping outside for two special Fix-It Picnics, back at Waterfront Wednesdays! Hang with us by the river and experiment with natural dyes. Bring a white or light-colored piece of natural fabric (cotton, linen, etc.) or clothing to dip in one of our community dye baths (please no heavy jackets, bedding, etc.). Each drop-in session will also offer plenty of time to work on the sewing, t-shirt weaving, mending, or crafting project of your choice.
In July, Hanoux will demonstrate the indigo dye process, explaining how indigo is grown and a little about creating shibori patterns.
In August, the community dye bath will be led by the LikeMindedObjects team.
Date/Time: Wednesday, July 15 and August 5, 5 – 7:30pm
Registration: No registration required. All are welcome!
This program is presented in partnership with The Second Show Community Thrift Shop, and Pay It Forward Community Thrift Store, and it is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
