Details:
As we welcome the season of summer, we embrace our inner fire and invite in the fullness and bursting energy of this season. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, we have a healing methodology called the 5 Phases (Elements). Summer is ruled by the Fire element and is expressed in nature as well as in the body. Growth, joy and spiritual awareness between the heart and mind are the focus during this season. Summer is the most Yang season and represents outward energy, expansion, movement and activity. This is the time to use the energy we have been storing all winter and spring.
This class is designed to use specific breathing techniques, movement and bodywork to balance the energies of the summer season. When our Fire element is balanced we experience joy and laughter, clear thinking, healthy circulation, and emotional warmth and connection. Through gentle bodywork, meditation and breathing techniques, this class will work to channel, embrace, and bring balance to these emotions and energies. Towards the end of the flow, bowls and other instruments will be played to further bring the Fire element back into alignment as attendees receive light massage. Rather than resisting the flow of yang in and around us, we will practice welcoming the upward quality of summer with acupressure points, spacious inhale holds, and supportive poses to allow your most flexible self in this season.
