Details:
On July 18, attendees can participate in two engaging events focusing on sustainable gardening and healthy cooking. The Soilless Gardening Workshop, hosted by the Prairie View A&M University Extension in Freeport, offers a free opportunity to learn about hydroponics, a method of growing plants without soil that allows for precise control and efficient resource use. Participants will gain practical tips and hands-on experience to cultivate their own gardens. Simultaneously, the Cooking Well Texas Meets Mediterranean class, held by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Rosenberg, costs $50 and is designed to introduce the health benefits of the Mediterranean diet. This three-part class will include educational sessions, a guided cooking demonstration, and tastings of Mediterranean-inspired dishes, emphasizing fruits, vegetables, proteins, grains, and dairy. Registration is required for both events, and class sizes are limited.
