Home Canning Workshop

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Office in McLennan County will host a home canning workshop on July 18 in Waco. The cost is $50, and registration is available by calling or visiting the AgriLife Extension Office for McLennan County at 4224 Cobbs Drive, Waco, 254-757-5180. Deadline to register is July 16. This hands-on class will teach participants to prepare and can food in a water bath canner and pressure canner. Participants will learn how to prepare foods and jars following a tested and approved recipe, and can food in the class that will be finished and ready to take home at the end. Additionally, participants will learn about different types of canners and how to prepare different high-acid foods including fruits, tomatoes, jams, jellies and pickled products.
