Class Description:
This 2-hour module teaches on the Five Protective Factors which are the foundation of the Strengthening Families Approach: parental resilience, social connections, concrete support in times of need, knowledge of parenting and child development, and social and emotional competence of children. Studies show that when the Five Protective Factors are well established in a family, the probability of child abuse and maltreatment decreases, while concurrently increasing optimal child and youth development. In this module, which is the first of a two-part series, participants will learn about the first two protective factors: parental resilience and social connections of the Five Protective Factors Framework
