Class: Grief and Loss in Foster Care
Date & Time: Thursday, June 4 *6:00-8:00pm
FKCE Trainer: Robert Waddington, M.S.W.
Class Description:
Although necessary for safety reasons, the sudden removal of children from the home of a parent due to issues of abuse/neglect, and placement with people whom they did not previously know, is traumatizing to them. This class will explore the grieving process, including phases of grief that children experience, and ways in which they express their grief. Caregivers will learn how to support children whom are grieving, along with strategies for dealing with their own feelings of grief and loss when foster children leave their homes.
