Dani & Debora Gurgel Quarteto ft. The Cressmans

Brazil’s Dani & Debora Gurgel Quarteto, with 16 albums and three US tours in 2024 alone, including a stop at SXSW, joins forces with the Cressman family, a Bay Area musical dynasty with deep roots in Brazilian music, Latin jazz and beyond. Together they bring a decade-long creative friendship to a rare shared performance.
Dani & Debora Gurgel Quarteto — known as DDG4 — draws its hypnotic energy from the deep musical connection between sisters Dani and Debora. Dani’s precise, syncopated scat intertwines with Debora’s pulsating left-hand piano lines, creating a sound charged with Brazilian charm and the spiraling freedom of jazz improvisation. Their 16 albums have earned them multiple Music Pro Awards, Brazil’s most prestigious music industry recognition, as well as Brazilian Golden Records in Japan. Their next album will premiere on their 2026 US tour.
The Cressman family spans two generations and multiple genres. Patriarch Jeff Cressman is a trombonist best known as a 16-year veteran of Carlos Santana’s band, with additional credits alongside Tito Puente, Poncho Sanchez and Sheila E. Vocalist Sandy Cressman is renowned for her Brazilian repertoire and collaborations with many of Brazil’s most prominent musicians. Daughter Natalie Cressman is a New York-based trombonist and vocalist who has spent 15 years touring with Phish’s Trey Anastasio and has released four duo albums with guitarist Ian Faquini, most recently Revolução in 2025.
The connection between the two families dates to 2013, when Sandy and Dani began a friendship that grew into recordings in São Paulo and performances together in Brazil and the Bay Area. When these two musical families share a stage, the result is something genuinely rare: the deep roots of Brazilian music and Bay Area jazz tradition meeting in real time, with years of trust and friendship driving every note.
