Details:
The Pottery Program at Callanwolde offers two engaging intermediate-level courses for aspiring ceramic artists: "POT 17 - Altered Pottery" and "POT 06 - Intermediate Handbuilding."
In "POT 17 - Altered Pottery," students will delve into essential wheel-throwing techniques, including throwing, glazing, and firing basic forms such as cups, bowls, and saucers. Safety guidelines and studio procedures will also be emphasized, making this class ideal for those looking to build foundational skills.
"POT 06 - Intermediate Handbuilding" encourages creative exploration in clay, focusing on both functional and sculptural pieces. Students will develop their artistic expression through various forms, techniques, and surface designs, necessitating a prerequisite of Beginning Handbuilding.
Both courses include a $98 supply fee covering one bag of clay (stoneware, raku, or Lizella earthenware), glazes, and firing space, while tools must be supplied by the students. Note that all projects must be produced in the Pottery Program studios; outside work is not permitted.
