Details:
Join us for a comprehensive exploration of ceramics and sculpting through a series of classes designed for various skill levels.
**POT 08 - Intermediate Sculpting (Klapthor)** will immerse students in the art of figure sculpting, covering human, animal, and imaginative forms. Initial projects focus on details such as faces and hands, emphasizing basic structure and anatomy, which evolve into full figure sculptures that convey unique narratives. Individual styles are encouraged, though live models are not used.
**POT 14 - Beginning Wheel (O'Leary)** introduces foundational pottery techniques including throwing, glazing, and firing, tailored for crafting small forms like cups and bowls. This entry-level class promotes safety and creativity in a friendly atmosphere.
**POT 19 - Intermediate Wheel (Hook)** is for those with prior experience, emphasizing surface decoration through playful experimentation with various techniques such as slips, carving, and molds. A minimum of two semesters of beginner throwing is recommended.
All classes include a tuition fee that covers a $98 pass-through supply fee for clay, glazes, and firing space; however, students are required to provide their own tools. Additional materials can be purchased from the studio. All work must be produced in the Pottery Program studios, with no outside work allowed. These classes promise a hands-on experience while fostering creativity and physical engagement in a supportive environment.
