**Event Description: BLACK ARCHIVE - NIKESHA BREEZE**
Nikesha Breeze is a celebrated international artist known for her diverse artistic practices encompassing oil painting, clay and bronze sculpture, installation, performance art, and film. With a foundation in global African diasporic and Afro-Futurist perspectives, her captivating works explore themes of grief, sanctuary, power, and visibility, while engaging in the reclamation of narratives often overlooked in history. Breeze calls upon ancestral memory and archival resurrection to craft immersive experiences that blend storytelling with historical education. Her acclaimed solo exhibition, “Four Sites Of Return,” and her award-winning installation, "108 Death Masks: A Communal Prayer for Peace and Justice," reflect her innovative approach, earning her numerous accolades, including the juried 3D Grand Prize at the 2018 International ARTPRIZE. Currently residing in Taos, New Mexico, Breeze’s heritage as an African American descendant of Sierra Leone's Mende People and Assyrian American immigrants from Iran enriches the perspectives represented in her work. Nikesha Breeze's artworks have been displayed in prestigious institutions such as the MoCADA Museum, The Albuquerque Museum, and the NkinKyim Museum of Ghana, solidifying her global artistic presence.
