Kicking off our new season is The Thief of Bagdad on July 26th at 2:30pm! In this fantasy adventure drama, Fairbanks plays a swashbuckling thief who decides to change his ways after falling for a princess and then embarks on a journey to make himself worthy of her love. While he has the princess’ heart, three princes including one with a secret motive, are on a quest to find the rarest treasure in exchange for her hand in marriage.
Movie critics at the time called the film “a feat of motion picture art” and a “triumph of camera magic and regal staging.” With legendary production design created by William Menzies, audiences are taken to a world of wonder and enchantment.
Accompanying the film is organist Russ Peck. Mr. Peck currently performs at San Diego Symphony Hall/Jacobs Music Center for their silent film presentations and is house organist at San Diego’s Balboa Theatre. In addition to being an organist, he is principal timpanist for the Tifereth Israel Community Orchestra.
