Details:
Invasive teasel can quickly fill in an area if left unmanaged. Each plant may produce hundreds of seeds that can stay viable in soil for over a decade.
The great thing about teasel is that each plant only flowers and creates seed once in its life cycle. One management strategy that works for plants like this is collecting the flowering portions before they release their seeds. A less desirable aspect of teasel is that it is a sharply spiked plant! We will carefully clip and collect teasel flowers from mature plants.
Meeting location will be determined a few days before this event based on where the greatest need is at that time. Freya will contact you via email with those details. Clippers, buckets, eye protection and leather gloves will be available for volunteers to use.
We will be working off trail, so please wear sturdy shoes and long pants. Insect/tick repellent, long sleeves, and work/garden gloves are HIGHLY recommended. Please also bring drinking water and anything else you think you may need during this activity.
