Looking for a fun and engaging way to keep your 8–12-year-olds learning this summer? Join History Cherokee for Wild Discovery Summer Camp, happening July 13 - 17, 2026, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. each day! Each day campers will explore a different history theme through STEAM-based activities that connect to the fascinating exhibits at the Cherokee County History Center. This week's daily themes are History Through Comics, River Science, Archaeology, Reptiles, and Mystery at the Museum. $30 per day or $120 for the whole week.
Today, we're learning about the science of archaeology with our very own education manager (and resident archaeologist), Kady Yeomans. Archaeology is the scientific study of the human past by analyzing the material remains—such as tools, pottery, buildings, and other artifacts—that people left behind. It acts like a detective, using these physical clues to reconstruct how ancient cultures lived, behaved, and changed.
