Details:
Artist Laura Migliorino will discuss the history of discrimination against the LGBTQ community using banned and burned books as a guide. Highlights will include Radclyffe Halls' "The Well of Loneliness" and her obscenity conviction in 1928, the first Nazi book burning in 1933, the work of James Baldwin, and bans on contemporary titles such as "Heather Has Two Mommies" and "Beyond Magenta." This talk is in coordination with the current exhibit at North Regional Library that goes through June 30.
