July 2-Crafting the Stars and Stripes
Show your patriotism and celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States of America by crafting American flags using craft sticks and paint.
July 8-Plantasaurus
Create a whimsical planter using dinosaur toys! Teens will be able to decorate the dinosaurs as they want and then turn them into a planter. Supplies will be limited.
July 11-DIY Amber Insect Soap
Emulate the process of creating amber and trapping insects at Rockford Public Library! Learn about the process and make you own amber soap—fake insects included! Registration is recommended as supplies are limited.
July 18-Dinosaur Buttons!
Some paleo-buttons emerge to decorate yourself or your stuff! Our theme for Summer Reading 2026 is Unearth a Story! Keep track of your reading goals and attend exciting events all summer long!
July 21- Keepsake Coasters
Bring in a picture you'd like as a keepsake, and we will make them into coasters that you can keep or give as gifts!
July 22-Dinosaur Maps
Map-making is back but with a dinosaur twist! Have you ever wondered how some books and games come up up with fantasy maps? We will be exploring the possibilities for making maps using tea and other mediums! Create your very own dinosaur-themed map for inspiration your writing, or role playing games.
July 25-Fossil Printing III: Tumeric
Join us in the RPLF Teen Zone to make fossil themed art with various art techniques! For our final event in the series, we will introduce the art form of turmeric printing using plants. Each technique in the series will symbolize the imprints that dinosaurs and other ancient critters left behind in sediment.
July 27-Build-a-Dino
Tap into your mad scientist skills and create a whole new creature!
July 30-Unearth Your Own Keychain
Come to the RPLF Teen Zone to make keychains following the theme for the summer: Unearth a Story. While some images will be prepared in advance, requests and DIY are welcomed for making your own keychains.
