PLAY Roanoke Parks and Recreation is a nationally accredited municipal agency dedicated to building a welcoming community through play. They manage nearly 13,000 acres of public land and offer thousands of recreational opportunities annually to the Roanoke Valley. The department oversees 69 public properties, including 51 parks, eight plazas, seven greenways, two outdoor swimming pools, eight recreation centers, and over 100 miles of trails. Their services include maintaining parks, urban forestry, horticulture programs, and supporting numerous events. The recreation division provides over a thousand recreational and educational programs for all ages, including affordable after-school programs for youth. PLAY Roanoke is committed to offering vibrant public spaces and memorable life experiences through state-of-the-art facilities and enriching activities for individuals of all ages.
