The New Rochelle Public Library (NRPL) is a community resource dedicated to improving the lives of all its citizens by encouraging lifelong learning, protecting intellectual freedom, and providing equitable access to information. Chartered in 1894, NRPL operates as a school-district library with its own budget and a seven-member Board of Trustees. Serving the residents of New Rochelle from its main downtown building since 1979 and a branch, the Huguenot Children's Library, since 1997, the library offers a comprehensive collection of materials, up-to-date technology, and diverse community programs. It is a member of the Westchester Library System, collaborating with other libraries to enhance services for over 940,000 residents. NRPL is known for its extensive programming, including services for job seekers, ESL classes, and cultural events, making it a vibrant community center.
