Details:
Learn about Lower Merion Township’s local Founding Father, Charles Thomson and how he helped draft the Declaration of Independence in his role as Secretary to the Continental Congress. From writing meeting notes and writing letters on behalf of the Congress to designing the Great Seal of the United States, Thomson was one of only 2 people who actually signed the Declaration of Independence on July 4th, 1776. While making an 18th century style hand-sewn pocket journal, we’ll talk about how Charles Thomson chronicled his everyday life at Harriton House and how you can begin to record details of your own life. Best for children 8 – 12. Instruction by Harriton House staff members.
