MOVIE MATINEE at the Historic USO Building

A lovely movie…for everyone! Enjoy a pleasant afternoon family film experience on Sunday, August 30 at 2 pm. Our thrifty Snack Bar opens at 1:30 pm. The Historic USO Building is refreshingly cool for your viewing comfort!

Our feature film is a 1995 period romantic drama film starring Keanu Reeves, Giancarlo Giannini, Angélica Aragón, Evangelina Elizondo, Debra Messing and Anthony Quinn. An international co-production film between the United States and Mexico, it was an English-language remake of the 1942 Italian film Four Steps in the Clouds.

Released 1995, it was a commercial success, grossing $91 million against a $20 million budget. Maurice Jarre’s musical score earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score.

The movie, set in the vineyards of Northern California in the months right after World War II, tells the story of a young man and woman who meet at a time of crisis in both of their lives, who agree to pretend to be married, and who end up desperately in love just when the pretense is about to fail. The plot lovingly constructs one barrier after another to their happiness, so that we can rejoice as each one falls, only to be even more alarmed at the next. And it sets their story in a place of breathtaking beauty.
