Details:
Join us this July for "American Stories: Rebels and Revolutionaries of the Berkshires," a historical and civic education course celebrating America's 250th anniversary. Held every Wednesday with sessions at 11 am and 5:30 pm, this program delves into the pivotal role of the Berkshires in the American Revolution. Participants will explore the complex biographies of local figures who shaped American history and culture from the late 18th century onward. Each session begins at the Norman Rockwell Museum, featuring discussions on artworks related to that day’s theme.
The course is led by Justin F. Jackson, a lecturer and visiting scholar at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, who specializes in U.S. history and is the author of works exploring American colonialism and local history. One notable topic will be "Navajo Blue Highway": Daniel Nimham, the Stockbridge Mohicans, and the Revolution’s “Missing Indians.”
Pricing is as follows: $40 for members and $45 for non-members per person; $65 for members and $70 for non-members for two. Gallery Guild or Artist Forum members enjoy free admission to this series. Don't miss this opportunity to deepen your understanding of the Berkshires' rich history!
