Details:
Join us this July for "American Stories: Rebels and Revolutionaries of the Berkshires," a special historical and civic education course celebrating America's 250th anniversary. Offered every Wednesday at 11 am or 5:30 pm, this series explores the pivotal role the Berkshires played in the American Revolution through the complex biographies of its notable residents, from Agrippa Hull and Elizabeth Freeman to Samuel Harrison and W.E.B. Du Bois. Classes will commence in the galleries of the Norman Rockwell Museum's exhibition "American Stories: Revolution to Rockwell," featuring discussions that connect visual art to the day’s theme.
The course is instructed by Justin F. Jackson, a lecturer and visiting scholar at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, known for his work on U.S. history and local narratives. Registration fees are $40 for members and $45 for non-members (discounts for couples), with free admission for Gallery Guild and Artist Forum members. Don’t miss this opportunity to delve into Berkshire's significant contributions to American history and culture.
